SEND information

Worstead preschool is an all inclusive setting. We provide a supportive environment to enable development for all children.

Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) will be supported by their key person with the help of the special educational needs coordinator (SENCO). The role of the SENCO is to provide information and support to the key person and families of children with SEND.

The SENCO will advice the key person and families of children with SEND on methods of support to try with their children. These can include, activities to try, professionals to contact and adapted teaching methods. The SENCO will also support with early recognition of SEN and early intervention.

There are four main areas of SEND which are;

· Communication and interaction

· Cognition and learning

· Social, emotional and mental health

· Sensory and/or physical

Children with SEND may be eligible for additional funding called special educational needs inclusion fund (SENIF) or education health and care plan (EHCP) funding. This will provide the setting with funding to use with children with SEND. This will allow the setting to support children with SEND through designated 1-1 time during each session they attend.

Worstead preschool' s current SENCO is Bethany Pilkington.

If you have any concerns regarding SEND please contact your child’s key person and/or Bethany via email. bethany.pilkington@worsteadpreschool.co.uk

Safeguarding

This organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our Safeguarding Practice & Documentation is fully in place. We are audited regularly by NCC Early Years.  We also complete our own audits and the latest one was January 2022.
